A new agreement for desktop study has been signed by SAEx and Alcatel Submarine Networks for new 25,000km undersea network cable to link South Africa, Asia and US.
With the network aimed to be ready by 2021, South Africa could see a huge increase in connectivity and bandwidth into Africa. The undersea fiber network line will have an overall capacity of up to 108Tbps, that will open many new opportunities for small and large business alike.
The cable will comprise of 2 phases:
- The first being the connection of SA with Brazil and the US, and
- The second being the connection of SA with India & Singapore.
